Note

The magazine skipped April 1958 and said so. The editorial opens: “With this spring issue, after an absence of a single month, the magazine begins a new era,” and another piece apologises that it appears late “because the magazine was suspended for one month.” The issue was printed in May (it speaks of “this past April”). It is the issue that follows March: March’s prison-reform campaign is taken up here in “Prisons, These Reform Institutes.” No cover survives, so the name the issue gave itself cannot be read; the catalogue keeps the April label.
